Aaron Gunderson

Aaron is the principle and founder of PassiveZero and a professional sustainable buildings educator & consultant. Prior to founding PassiveZero, he served for nearly a decade as the Executive Director of Passive House Massachusetts, a non-profit organization that promotes building standards, provides education and training for industry professionals, and advocates for policy and funding initiatives for sustainable buildings. In this capacity, he helped the state become the nationwide leader in sustainable construction and Passive buildings.

Aaron is also a founding board member of the Studio for High-Performance Design & Construction, an education center for building trades and community members. He has years of experience teaching courses to architects, developers, contractors, trades, city planners, town meeting members, students, and many, many others.

He holds a Master's degree in Sustainably & Environment Management, focusing on sustainable building design, embodied carbon and energy analysis, greenhouse gas reporting, and community-level climate adaptation and mitigation.

Aaron is also a Certified Passive House Tradesperson, LEED Green Associate, and active member of multiple sustainably and community organizations. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife and young son. Please reach out anytime.
