BUILDING CERTIFICATION
PASSIVE HOUSE BUILDING CERTIFICATION
The Passive House standard is a third-party building certification program based on energy performance metrics, quality assurance criteria, and health & comfort requirements.
There are two organizations which provide certification, the Passive House Institute (PHI) and Phius. Each organization sets it own criteria and requirements. Within each program, there are multiple certification pathways depending on the type of project, new or existing construction, and desired level of energy performance. It is up to each project team to choose the standard that best suites them and their project.
PassiveZero can help you navigate this process and chose the best path for your project.
LIVING BUILDING CERTIFICATION
The Living Building Challenge program from the Living Building Institute goes beyond just energy use to provide a framework for designing, constructing, and improving the symbiotic relationships between people and all aspects of the built and natural environment. Certified projects represent the highest level of holistic sustainability in buildings.
Notably, many projects pursing LBC certification also achieve Passive House certification which covers the energy (and many building health) requirements of LBC.
LEED BUILDING CERTIFICATION
LEED, from the U.S. Green Building Council, is the most widely used green building standard in the world, covering all aspects of sustainability buildings and covering a all project types and phases, including new construction, core and shell, interior fit-outs, operations and maintenance, neighborhoods and cities.
WELL BUILDING CERTIFICATION
WELL focuses on the how buildings are designed to meet the health & comfort needs of their occupants while also connecting them with nature and the surrounding environment. It can be used on it’s own or combined with other standards to create a truly holistic building.
